Search interest, a community conversation and a video’s total views tell different stories. We keep their labels and measurements separate so you can explore without mistaking one for another.

Facebook

Creator-owned Facebook Page links can be shared on an Indiedex Page. Live Page metrics require a Meta app, appropriate Page permissions and authorized Page access; this connection is not configured.

Google Search

Country search trends from Google's official Trending Now RSS export. Search-volume buckets are approximate; these are not social-video views.

Mastodon

Public trending-tag aggregates seen by mastodon.social. This instance is one community, not the whole fediverse or a country ranking.

Bluesky

Topics from Bluesky's public trending list with the post count Bluesky reports. It is Bluesky's own view of its network, not X or a country ranking.

Hacker News

Stories on the Hacker News front page with their points and comment counts, from the official HN Search API.

Lobsters

The hottest stories on Lobsters, a programming community, with their score and comment count.

DEV

The day's top posts on DEV (dev.to) with their reaction counts, from DEV's public API.

Hugging Face

Models and Spaces sorted by Hugging Face's own trending order. Likes and total downloads are Hugging Face's numbers; we don't compute a score.

Wikipedia

Yesterday's most-read articles per language edition, with Wikimedia's daily view counts. A language is not a country, and reading is not endorsement.

YouTube

Recent uploads and feed-reported views from selected channels. Country charts need the separately configured Data API. No global trend or creator-growth claim.

Instagram

Requires an approved Meta app, supported professional-account access and authorized scopes. Arbitrary creator/Reel reach and private insights are unavailable.

X

Official API access is paid, so we don't read X. For the same kind of live conversation we show Bluesky trending topics and the Hacker News front page. Anyone can still put their X profile and pinned posts on an Indiedex Page.

Commercial API use needs Reddit's approval and is paid, and we never scrape it or use anonymous JSON/RSS. For community discussion we show Hacker News, Lobsters and DEV instead.

What the numbers mean

Google Trending Now supplies approximate search-volume buckets and a source timestamp. A value such as “200+” remains a bucket, not an exact count. RSS does not supply percent growth, related searches or topic categories here. Related coverage links are headlines supplied by Google; publisher images are not copied. Cite Google Trends when sharing these discoveries.

Mastodon tags are aggregate uses in the latest UTC day bucket observed by mastodon.social. They are not unique people, all-time totals or a global/country ranking. We do not copy individual posts or account information.

YouTube cards show recent uploads from our selected channels. Public feed views are lifetime totals when checked, not views earned today or proof of a rising trend. Country is undisclosed by these feeds. The separate regional YouTube charts require a working Data API connection.

Country search and community feeds have a ten-minute refresh budget; we recommend checking every thirty minutes. Topics no longer in a successful refresh are removed; failed refreshes retain prior items for up to 24 hours. Cards more than four hours old say an update is due. Selected video metadata is refreshed daily and expires after 29 days without refresh. A local successful import is not a deployed schedule.

Private creator reach and earnings are never guessed. Public availability does not grant ownership of source content. Original links, attribution, rights requests and corrections remain available.
